So Much Time, So Much To Do
I have often thought about how much different life is today in comparison to the past because of all the recent advancements in technology. I am amazed at how people survived without cell phones, I am not referring to smart phones with internet access and games, I am referring to the simple ability of being able to contact people anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds without them even being home. It is simply amazing how far we have come! We have the potential and the capability of doing so much in a very short amount of time. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches us to use our time wisely and to not idle it away. I believe that everyone who has lived on this earth will be held accountable for how they spend their time. Advancements in technology have provided us with more free time than it has to any other generation. However, with this increase in free time comes a greater accountability to use that time we have been blessed with wisely.

It's easy to imagine that life has always been the same. But, our world is COMPLETELY different from to world of the past. It's safe to assume that the same holds for the future.
ReplyDeleteI would argue that even though Technology has freed up some of our time, we are busier than any other generation. We always have something to do. Think about how much on-screen time we spend, and I am not even including a programmer's time on his job. I am talking about people in general, with all their gadgets and to-dos. Now I am not saying that getting busy is necessarily bad, but to what extent we use technology (mostly internet), may be we need to rethink our priorities.
ReplyDeleteI have often wished for just a few more minutes in the day. Then I realized that if I was magically given more time it would instantly be devoured by some other pressing need. This would leave me in the same situation I was in before. Technology is just the magic-time-giver that forces us to be doing more than we could have done without it.
